Garden Got Back

I always wondered what happened to this guy. Turns out that shortly after his successful rap career in the US, Sir Mix-a-lot, returned to his first love, landscape architecture. Reginald Euguene Mix-a-lot, knighted in 1989 for his work to bring his love of gardening to British inner cites, recently completed what he considers to be his masterpiece on his estate in Scotland.

Asked to comment on his creation, Mix-a-lot stated "Ian Hamilton Finlay once said, and I'm paraphrasin' here, 'gardens are often looked at as retreats, when actually they are attacks'". He paused and added, "this ones just straight up bootylicious".

"Fanta-Se" The Land of Enchantment

Oh, the Southwest! Hot, dry, dusty, windy...what more could you ask for as a retreat from Philadelphia and PennDesign....

The landscape out here is just vastly beautiful as you can imagine. I had the pleasure of spending time with Sally, JTA, her NY friends, and Bradford this past weekend. Putting 900 miles on our rental car in just three days, we travelled near and far around Santa Fe, exploring the cliff dwellings, the art of Taos, and the Lightning Field.

I hope you all are having wonderful summers and I'm so excited to come back and spend one more year of design school with ya'll [that's for you goetz]!

Views from above

spent 3 days and 2 nights in the park (Grand Teton National) this weekend. Best weekend ever. Went through 2 canyons and summited 3 peaks. I can barely walk now. . .good thing i don't have to do any site visits and can sit in the office all week to recover before taking off again next week.

Sorry for the delay!

Some people thought and I thought I was going to be posting in this blog everyday. It turned out that, first nothing very exciting is happening to me here in Berlin and second I discovered Facebook.

I had too much work on my first 3 weeks here. I almost go crazy and quit before the first month was over (at least Meg was here then to listen to all my complains). On top of that my boss had a stress attack and spend a week in the hospital. And all the computers in the office where stolen 2 weeks ago. Don't worry! everything is back to normal now. My boss is back and computers too.

The last two weeks have been good! I'm enjoying weekends with my roommates and we have been twice to the lake. I have never been in a lake before. So here are some pictures of this "super exciting activity".

And this is me and my German roommate, who after 13 years of shaving his head decided it was a good idea to let his hair grow for the last time...

I hope you all keep having fun. And I hope that some fun start to happen to me too. If not any of you should help and bring some.
